GDPR Webinar – 1 year on, how has case law evolved?

GDPR Webinar recording now available – click here!

In this GDPR webinar, we will look at the latest data protection enforcement action and case law emerging in the UK and across Europe, the issues arising and how to avoid similar problems. It will include:

  • HMRC and Voice ID – the ICO’s first major enforcement action under GDPR in requiring HMRC to delete 5 million records that were gathered without consent
  • Bounty – a significant fine under the Data Protection Act 1998 for sharing the personal data of expectant and new mothers with third party marketing companies and data brokers
  • True Vision – fined by the ICO for filming a documentary on a maternity ward without adequate transparency and informed consent
  • Denmark – a taxi company has been fined for retaining personal data in an identifiable format for much longer than required and out of step with its documented retention policy.

These cases (and others we will cover) have moved the focus away from purely security issues and highlight the need to consider all seven data protection principles equally.
